TIL my 'cheap' grocery run cost way more than a simple meal plan

Last Tuesday I went to the store in Springfield without a list, just grabbing stuff that looked good for dinner. I ended up with random veggies, a pack of chicken, and some fancy sauce, and the total was over $60. When I got home, I realized I had no real plan and half the stuff went bad before I used it. I could have made five solid meals for that price if I'd just picked a couple recipes first. How do you guys keep your impulse buys in check when you're shopping hungry?

Got the same problem with bread. Now I just eat a granola bar in the parking lot first.

The parking lot granola bar is the real breakfast.

That's the modern morning routine right there. It gets the job done when you're in a rush. What's your go-to bar?
