Am I the only one who found the free walking tours in Prague a total letdown?

I joined a 'free' tour there last month, and the guide spent 45 minutes pressuring our group of 15 to give at least 20 euros each at the end. It felt more like a sales pitch than a city tour. Has anyone had a genuinely good, no-pressure experience with these, or should I just stick to guidebooks?

20 euros each" is why I stopped trusting those tours.

Totally agree with @west.casey, that pricing is a scam. You gotta check the guide's reviews for mentions of pressure, not just the star rating. Found one guy in Berlin who just talked history and got great tips because he was actually good.

So how do you find a guide like @reese_hayes71's Lisbon one?

Ugh, that's the worst kind of tour. I had a great one in Lisbon where the guide just said to pay what we felt it was worth at the end, no set amount. Maybe it's about finding a guide who actually loves the city, not just the tips.
