Appreciation post: My stubborn search for a cheap bus from Rome to Naples
I was sure I could find a local bus for under 10 euros, avoiding the train. I spent nearly four hours online and asking at three different tourist info spots in Rome. It turned out the cheap bus only runs twice a day from a station way outside the center, making the train worth the extra 15 euros for the time saved. Has anyone else wasted half a day trying to save a few bucks on transport?

Ever wasted a whole afternoon to save like five bucks?

I read a study that said people will spend hours to save a small amount on a big purchase. It feels like winning a game, even when the time spent is worth more than the money saved. Do you get that same weird satisfaction?

Heard it's called the "pain of paying" or something. Your brain treats saving money like a real win, even if it's dumb math. Makes total sense why we do it.
