Heads up about those 'free' city walking tours
I got stuck for over an hour in Prague after the 'free' tour ended because the guide pressured everyone into paying a huge tip, basically holding us hostage. It completely ruined my afternoon schedule. Has anyone else found a good way to handle that situation without the awkward standoff?

Ugh, that's the worst. I'd just walk away next time (seriously, what are they gonna do?).

Actually had a coworker who tried that cash line once. They just followed him to an ATM, which was super awkward. Setting a hard "I don't lend money" rule worked way better for me in the end. Saves you from the back and forth.

Wait, do people actually go along with that? I used to think it was just part of the deal, like you had to tip what they wanted or you'd look cheap in front of everyone. But after getting stuck in a similar situation in Budapest, I totally changed my mind. It's not a real hostage situation, but the social pressure is so intense it feels like one. Now I just bring a set amount of cash specifically for the tip, hold it up, say "this is all I have," and if they push, I just walk away. It feels rude in the moment but honestly it's way better than letting them ruin your whole day.
