Pro tip: I saved $40 on a bus ticket from Berlin to Prague by buying it at the station
Last month I was booking a trip and saw the online price for the bus was 25 euros. I figured that was fine. But when I got to the Berlin bus station a day before my trip, I checked the ticket counter. The exact same seat, same company, was 15 euros if you bought it there in person. The online booking fee was huge. I've heard this works for some regional trains too, not just buses. Has anyone else found cheaper prices by avoiding the app and just showing up?

That reminds me of a weird ferry price I saw once.

Remember the time I tried to buy a ferry ticket online. The total came out to something like $17.43 after all the fees. I spent more time wondering about the odd cents than the actual trip.

Wait, they charged you a ten euro booking fee just to use the app? That's insane. It's not like they're printing and mailing you a paper ticket. The whole point of digital is that it's cheaper for them. That's pure greed, hiding the real cost until you're already putting in your card details. Makes me wonder what else they're overcharging for.
