Used to think those wild price swings were just random. Turns out airlines adjust prices based on how many seats are left, sometimes in the middle of the night. Saw it happen with a flight to Dublin last year.

My buddy works in airline revenue management. He told me the big swings are mostly about competition, not just empty seats. If a low cost carrier like Ryanair adds a new flight to Lisbon on your dates, the other airlines have to drop their prices fast to match. That's probably what you saw.
