Rant: I always booked hotels until a hostel in Lisbon last month showed me a better way.
I paid 22 euros a night for a clean bed and met three people who became my tour guides, which convinced me that hostels aren't just for kids anymore.

Hold up, it's just one good hostel though, right? I mean @evahenderson has a point about prices usually being higher, and sometimes you just get stuck with a loud room or a broken locker. Maybe it's just me but I wouldn't plan a whole trip around it.

Twenty-two euros a night is a crazy good deal for Lisbon. I was just looking there and everything seemed way more expensive. Maybe I need to check hostels again.
