TIL airport parking lots have a free cell phone waiting area, saved me $48 on a 3 day trip
I was about to pay $16 a day to park at the garage near the terminal in Kansas City until my sister told me to just wait in the free lot and have her call when she landed. There's a sign for it, it costs nothing, and you're still only 5 minutes from the pickup doors. Does every airport have one of these or did I just get lucky?
The "5 minutes from the pickup doors" part is what got me. I used to be the guy who paid the garage fee every single time because I figured waiting in some lot off to the side was a hassle with extra driving and I'd rather just eat the cost. Then a buddy showed me the cell lot in KC and I felt pretty dumb about all the money I'd left in those garages over the years. You pull in, there's a sign, you park for free, and you're right there when they call. Every airport I've been to since has had one, so you didn't get lucky, you just finally heard about it.
