A chat with my uncle about his old truck flipped a switch for me

He said he's kept it running for 20 years by fixing small things himself, which made me look at my own car payment. I spent last weekend learning to change my own air filter and saved $40 on a shop visit. Anyone have other simple car fixes a total beginner can try?

My cousin taught me to check my own tire pressure... it's weirdly satisfying. Saved a trip to the gas station air pump last week.
