Appreciation post: The grocery store meltdown that fixed my budget
I was in the checkout line at the Safeway on Maple Avenue when my card declined for a $150 grocery run. It was a real wake-up call. I went home, sat with my bank statement, and realized I was spending over $400 a month on just random snacks and convenience items. Has anyone else had a single moment that forced them to finally track their spending?

Remember that time I bought a single avocado for like four bucks at a gas station? My own low point was staring at a receipt for a bag of chips, a fancy soda, and a protein bar that cost more than a real lunch. It's always the little stuff that sneaks up on you. I started finding receipts in my jacket for seven dollar coffees from the place next to my bus stop. You don't feel it until you see it all added up in one sad column.

Heard a podcast call that the "latte tax." @hayden_craig95, it's so real. Those tiny buys just bleed your wallet dry.

Totally get it. The worst part is how it makes you feel broke without a big reason. You didn't buy a new TV or go on a trip, you just bought ten overpriced snacks and drinks over a week. It's death by a thousand tiny charges. My bank app groups those small buys together and the total each month is honestly scary. Makes you realize you could have paid a real bill with that money instead.
