Coupon clipping felt like a waste of time until I saved $340 on groceries last month
I always thought those extreme couponing shows were fake or just for people with too much time on their hands. But after my dog had an emergency vet visit I needed to cut costs somewhere. I spent maybe 2 hours one Sunday matching store sales with digital coupons on my phone. Ended up getting $340 off what I normally spend on food and household stuff. Has anyone else had a moment where a budgeting trick they doubted actually worked out bigger than expected?

Man same here honestly. Used to roll my eyes at coupon people but then I tried it one slow Sunday and saved like $200 on stuff I buy anyway. Kinda changed my mind about the whole thing.

Did you just stack digital coupons with store sales or were you doing the whole paper coupon thing too? I had a similar moment when I realized I could combine the store app coupons with their weekly ad online. It took me maybe an hour and a half one Saturday morning and I saved $280 on stuff I buy every month like paper towels and chicken breasts. Now I check once a week before I shop and it never takes more than 20 minutes. The key for me was sticking to brands I already use instead of buying random stuff just because it was cheap.

340 bucks is decent but I’d rather work an extra hour than spend two clipping coupons. Time is money too.
