Cut my grocery bill by $40 a week just by switching stores

I used to shop at the big name supermarket near my house. Convenient but expensive. Then I drove past a Aldi about 15 minutes away and figured I'd try it. First trip I spent $60 for what normally costs me $100. Same basic stuff like milk, eggs, bread, and veggies. The trick is you gotta bring your own bags and a quarter for the cart. It's not fancy but the food is fine. I've been doing it for 2 months now and saved around $320 total. Has anyone else switched chains and seen a big difference?

That $15 drive each way adds up too though. Gas ain't free and if you're only saving $40 a week the math might not work for everyone. Factor in your time and wear on the car and the savings shrink.

Totally agree, never really thought about the car wear and tear but you're right it eats away at the savings.

Drove 20 minutes to a different store last week just for their meat deals. Walked out with ground beef and chicken for half what my usual place charges. Turns out a short drive can really pay off if you know what you're after.
