Grocery store manager told me to "buy the ugly bananas" and it saved me $30 a month
Ran into the produce guy at my local Kroger last month, the one who's always stacking displays like it's a competitive sport. He saw me grabbing the perfect bunches and goes "you know those bruised ones taste sweeter and cost half, right?" I laughed it off until he pointed out the clearance rack. Now I buy 5 pounds of 'ugly' fruit for $4 instead of $8.50. He also told me to ask for day-old bread at the bakery counter, they sell it 75% off. Has anyone else gotten weird money saving tips from a random store employee that actually worked?

My buddy swears by this at his local Piggly Wiggly. He asked the meat guy about markdowns one time and the dude told him to show up at 7am on Tuesdays when they slap the yellow stickers on stuff about to expire. Now he buys ribeyes for like $6 a pound and freezes them. Weirdest part is he said the same guy hooked him up with free chicken bones for stock because nobody wanted the carcasses. Dude basically runs a side business out of the back room.
