I finally got my crew's coffee run costs under control after a bad month

Last month in St. Louis, I looked at our supply receipts and saw we spent over $400 just on coffee and energy drinks for the crew. It was a shock. We'd just grab stuff from the gas station every morning, no plan. I sat the guys down and said we had to cut it. One guy said we should just keep buying it to keep morale up, that the cost was worth it. I argued we could buy a big coffee maker for the shop and a big pack of cans from the store for way less. We tried my way this month, and the bill was $120. Big win. But now I'm wondering, is it better to save the cash or keep the easy morning stop for the team vibe? What's your take on small daily costs adding up?

It's the same with snacks at home. The little things you don't track always bleed you dry.

My grocery bill went up like $40 last month just from my partner grabbing chips and soda. The real killer is the convenience store runs, a $5 charge here and there adds up so fast. I started using a cash envelope for that stuff and it was a wake up call. You don't notice the digital taps but you feel the physical money leaving your hand.

Honestly that cash envelope thing is interesting but does it actually stop your partner from just grabbing her card when the cash runs out? I feel like the habit of buying the stuff has to change too not just the method of paying. Otherwise you're just making it harder for yourself without fixing the real problem.

Cash makes you feel the pain, that's why it works!
