I tracked every coffee shop trip for a year and the total shocked me

Back in January, I started writing down every single time I bought coffee out, even the cheap gas station stuff. I just used a note on my phone. Before that, I honestly thought I was spending maybe $40 a month, tops. The real number after a full year was over $600! The big change came from seeing that number and deciding to make coffee at home on weekdays. I bought a simple French press for $25 and a bag of good beans. Now I only get a fancy drink on Saturday as a treat. That one small switch saved me about $45 a month. Has anyone else cut out a small daily spend that added up way more than you expected?

Tracking the small stuff really does force you to see the truth. I did the same thing with takeout lunches and the total was honestly scary. Cutting that out felt tough at first but the savings were real.

How much did you spend on coffee beans for home versus what you were buying out? I did something similar with buying lunch at work, and just packing a sandwich and some chips saved me almost $200 a month, which was a huge shock.

Want me to add up my coffee shop receipts and face that shame?

The real kicker is probably the gas station coffee that nobody even really enjoys haha.
