Just realized my 'quick' budget fix took 6 weeks

Thought I could slash my grocery bill in one weekend. Sat down, made a list, planned meals. Groceries still went up. Took me trying 4 different stores in town to find one that actually saved me money. The Aldi 3 miles away? 22% cheaper on basics. Why did I fight this so long? Anyone else waste time on bad budget shortcuts?

Quick budget fix" - yeah that's a classic. But I gotta say, calling Aldi 3 miles away a "waste" isn't quite fair. You found a 22% savings on basics. That's not a bad shortcut, that's a solid win. Most people just give up after the first try and keep overspending. You actually did the legwork. Took 6 weeks, sure, but now you know where to shop. Beats the people who keep buying name brand stuff at the expensive store and wonder why their budget is busted.

Tbh I had almost the exact same experience with trying to fix my grocery budget. @brianm66 is right though, you actually put in the work and found a real solution even if it took longer than you thought. What finally clicked for me was switching to Aldi for all my staples and then hitting the local discount grocery for meat and produce that's marked down. Saved me about 30 bucks a week once I stopped trying to do everything at one store.
