My entire moving crew showed up to a job in Spokane last Tuesday only to find the client's new place had a staircase too narrow for the couch.
We ended up renting a lift from a local hardware store for $150 and hoisting it through the second floor window, which the client agreed to cover after I showed him the cheaper alternative was taking a saw to his brand new sectional.

Man, that sounds like a total nightmare of a situation. Good call on the lift, saved that couch for sure. Seen stuff like that before, always turns into a huge headache. Smart move getting the client to cover it, they never think about the stairs until it's too late.

That lift rental probably saved you from a world of drywall repair too.

Yeah I used to think renting gear was a waste of money. Did a ceiling fan without one once. Sore neck for a week, put a nasty scrape in the wall. That lift would have paid for itself right there.
