Read about neighborhood tool libraries popping up in some towns. People donate stuff they rarely use, like ladders or tillers, for everyone to borrow. Ever see something like that near you?

Could work for other stuff too, like splitting bigger jobs once a year. Sharing tools or a pressure washer cuts down on buying things you barely use.
