TIL air-drying my clothes slashed my power bill
I stopped using my dryer and started hanging clothes on a line. It cut my electricity costs a lot and made me feel good about using less energy. What other simple swaps have you made that save money and help the planet?

Heck, sometimes I just skip the washer too.

My old dryer was costing me like $80 a year just for itself. I started hanging most stuff on a cheap rack from Target and only use the dryer for sheets now. The electric bill dropped enough that I actually noticed it.

Yeah I got a folding drying rack for inside during winter. It's crazy how much heat dryers pump out, makes the AC work harder in summer too. Ever try cold water washes to save even more?

Wondering if we're overthinking this stuff sometimes. Sure, dryers use heat and cold washes save a bit, but is the real impact all that big? Feels like focusing on tiny savings while bigger things, like an old fridge or leaving lights on everywhere, probably waste more. The hassle of air-drying jeans and towels inside just isn't worth the few cents it might save on my bill. I just run my normal cycles and don't stress about it.
