After 5 years of bullet journaling I finally gave up on the month on two pages spread
Honestly I fought that monthly spread for so long because every YouTuber made it look so clean and perfect. But I would always run out of room on the right side by week two and my hand lettering would get all messy trying to cram things in. Last December I just switched to a rolling weekly setup where I write tasks as they come and keep a tiny sidebar for the month at a glance. It's been 3 months now and I actually fill every page without stressing about spacing. Has anyone else found that a simpler layout works way better than the pretty spreads you see online?

But don't you miss the clean aesthetic that made you actually want to open the journal?

Man I used to be totally on your side about that, @blakestone. I thought the whole minimal look was the only way to go for a long time. But after trying a few different layouts and actually sticking with one that's a bit busier, I gotta say my mileage changed completely. Now I find the extra stuff helps me actually want to flip it open more often because there's always something new to look at or fill in. Your mileage may totally vary though, this is just what clicked for me after giving the other side a real shot.

Funny thing @blakestone, I actually switched to one of those dated 2000s era scrapbook style layouts. The one with tabs and random quote stickers everywhere. Got it at a thrift store for like three bucks. Honestly the chaos kinda works for me now. Makes it feel lived in right from the start.
