Changed my mind on a $50 pen for my bullet journal

I always thought a nice pen was a waste, but my sister got me a Lamy Safari for my birthday. After using it for a month, my handwriting is neater and I actually look forward to writing my daily log. That $50 felt like a splurge, but it made the whole practice more enjoyable. Has anyone else found a specific tool that improved their journaling habit?

Guess it's just a pen though...

Yeah, but man, sometimes it's more than that, you know? It's the whole idea you built up in your head versus the plain thing in your hand. That letdown is real, even for small stuff. Makes you feel a bit silly for caring, but you still do.

Is it really that serious though? You built up the whole idea of a pen in your head and then got let down by the real thing. That sounds a bit much to me. It's a pen, man. Not a car or a vacation or something that actually matters. Maybe just try not to overthink buying a writing tool and then you won't be so disappointed. What were you expecting it to do, write love letters for you?
