Debate: Is a minimalist layout better than a full-on artsy spread?

I've been bullet journaling for about 8 months now and I keep going back and forth. My first few months I did these big colorful spreads with washi tape and stickers, took like 2 hours each week. Then about 3 months ago I switched to a super simple layout with just dates and tasks, took 10 minutes. The simple one helped me actually get stuff done but the artsy one was way more fun to look at. What do you all think works better for staying on track without burning out?

Two hours per spread? That's insane.

Different strokes for different folks honestly. Some people treat spreads like a full art project with blending and layering and that takes time. Two hours sounds long but if the person is enjoying the process who cares? Not everything has to be speedrun like a video game. Plus quality work usually takes more time than the quick slapdash stuff.

And honestly, what even counts as a "spread" at that point though? Like are we talking a full collage with washi tape and dried flowers and three different ink colors, or just some stickers slapped down with a couple of highlights? I feel like the definition is doing a lot of heavy lifting here (pun intended). Because if someone's seriously layering paint and doing backgrounds and all that, two hours is basically lightning speed.
