Ditched the index and my bujo finally works

Everyone online swears the index is the backbone of bullet journaling but I skipped it back in March and haven't looked back. The problem was I kept wasting time flipping to the index then to the page, so now I just put a sticky tab on the current week and use a simple bookmark. If I need to find an old note I just thumb through the last 10 pages, it takes 30 seconds at most. Anyone else run without an index or am I the only one who finds it useless?
