My friend said my weekly spread looked like a chore chart

We were at a coffee shop last Thursday and I showed her my journal. She pointed at my Monday box and said 'this just looks like work.' I had a full list of tasks with no color or fun stuff. It hit me that I turned my hobby into another job. How do you keep your spreads from feeling like a to-do list?

Saw my friend glue a coffee stain into hers.

Wait, glue it? That seems like it would make a weird lump. I've seen people use strong tea or instant coffee mixed with water to paint on a stain. It soaks into the paper and looks way more real. Glue would just sit on top and probably crack.

Have you tried leaving some boxes totally empty? I used to fill every inch of space, but now I'll leave a Tuesday blank on purpose. It feels less like a list when you're not forced to write something. That blank space actually makes the other days feel more like my own choices.
