Rant: I dropped $40 on a fancy dot grid journal and the paper bleeds with every pen I own

Has anyone found a good notebook under $30 that can handle mildliners without ghosting?

Yeah that's the worst. I've had good luck with the Artist's Loft notebooks from Michaels, they're cheap and the paper is surprisingly thick. You just have to catch them on sale.

Surprisingly thick" is pushing it, I've had those bleed through with basic gel pens. The paper feels cheap and the covers bend super easy.

Heard the Muji notebooks are solid for that, the paper is smooth and doesn't let ink through. I grabbed one for like twelve bucks last year and my mildliners don't show on the other side at all. The pages are a good weight without being cardstock.
