Took me 6 months to figure out my monthly spread layout
I kept running out of room for tasks halfway through the month. I tried a bunch of different layouts from Pinterest but none worked. Finally realized I just needed a narrower column for the dates and a wider one for notes. Probably wasted 12 hours total tweaking it. Has anyone else spent way too long on a simple fix like that?

Oh man, I totally get this. I spent like three hours one time trying to figure out why my pen kept smudging on this one type of notebook paper. Turns out my hand oils were reacting to the coating or something? I ended up switching to a different brand entirely, and now I just deal with it anyway half the time. It's funny how we can get so caught up in the little details that don't even matter that much in the end. But hey, at least your system works now, right?

Honestly I think you're overthinking a notebook system that probably didn't need that much fuss. 12 hours is a lot of time to spend on something that's just writing down what you need to do. I've used the same basic calendar layout for years - dates on the left, tasks on the right, no frills. It takes me maybe 2 minutes to set up a month. Maybe the real fix wasn't changing the column width but just being okay with a system that's good enough instead of perfect.

I saw a study once that said people who spend too much time planning actually get less done than people who just start doing the thing. 12 hours on a notebook setup feels like exactly that kind of trap, honestly. Maybe it's just me but sometimes good enough really is better than perfect.
