Vent: My coworker called my weekly spread a waste of time

I was showing my bullet journal to a guy on my roofing crew last Thursday, just flipping through my weekly layout with the habit trackers and all. He laughed and said I was overcomplicating things, that I should just use a simple to-do list on my phone instead. It hit different because I realized I spend more time decorating the page than actually using it to get stuff done. After our talk, I stripped my spread down to just three columns: tasks, weather notes, and a box for materials. Has anyone else had someone call out their system and it actually made you change things up?

Yeah but honestly, is a weekly spread really that deep? People get weirdly defensive about paper vs. phones like it matters.

Buddy of mine spent hours on spreads till his wife timed him. He switched to a pocket notepad.

Timing yourself is the only way to know if a system actually works for you. I set a 10 minute timer for my weekly layout and if it goes off, I stop and simplify. A pocket notepad beats a half done spread every time.
