My old roommate asked to crash for '2 nights' in my Chicago place, then laughed when I said no
Six months ago my old roommate Dana called me from O'Hare saying her sublet fell through and she needed my couch for 'just 2 nights' while she found a new spot. I said sure, and 11 days later she was still there, running my AC all day and eating my groceries, so I finally told her she had to go. She looked me right in the eye and said 'wow, you've really changed' like I was the bad guy for wanting my studio back. I told her the version of me who says yes forever moved out, and she left that night without a word. Has anyone else gotten that 'you've changed' line when you finally put up a boundary?
That "you've changed" line is just a guilt trip dressed up as a sad observation. She knows she wore out her welcome and flipping it on you means she doesn't have to admit she was the one taking advantage. Funny how the people who never respect a boundary are always the first to act hurt when you finally draw one.
