Realized my brother was only calling when he needed something after he asked for $500 to fix his car and then ghosted me for 6 months

I started keeping a simple log of every time he reached out, and after 4 months I saw a pattern of zero check-ins, just requests for favors, so I finally sent a text saying I was done and blocked his number, has anyone else found that tracking the calls makes the decision easier?

Did a buddy ever just stop calling unless he needed a ride?

Double check you're not the one who only calls them when you need a ride. I had a buddy like that, turned out I was the one initiating every hangout unless he needed something. What's your gut say about who actually started drifting first?

Read a study once that said most one-sided relationships follow that exact pattern you described: contact only spikes when someone needs a resource. @fiona_kim made a good point about checking your own role, but if you logged it and saw nothing but money or labor requests, that's not drifting apart, that's using you. That log makes it real in a way gut feelings can't.
