The $300 gift I gave my sister that ruined everything

I spent $300 on a custom piece of art for my sister's birthday last year, but she found out I spent more on her than my brother and hasn't spoken to me since. Has anyone else had a gift totally backfire like that?

lol yeah that's rough though. what worked for me was just giving everyone the same thing in the future. no more figuring out who gets what, keeps it drama free.

Instead of giving everyone the same thing I just tell them all I donated to a charity in their name. Keeps it simple and nobody can compare shit anymore.
