The moment I realized I was the toxic friend, not them
I spent years blaming my buddy Mark for always being distant. Then last winter, I called him 4 times in one day just to complain about my job at that warehouse in Denver. He finally said, "You never ask how I'm doing, you just dump on me." That hit me like a brick. Has anyone else had that gut-punch where you see your own reflection in the mess?

Oh man, I watched my friend Lisa do this to her sister for years until her sister finally stopped answering calls. She told me the wake up call came when her sister sent a text saying "I can't be your diary anymore, you never ask about my life." It took her months of real work to change, but now they actually have a two-way friendship.
