Spent $300 on a vacuum sealer that died after 6 months

Picked up a cheap FoodSaver from Target for wrapping my subprimals and bulk meat packs. Worked great sealing up briskets and pork shoulders for the freezer. Then the heating strip just gave out last week, right when I had a whole front quarter to break down and store. Anyone else had luck with a specific brand that actually holds up to daily use?

Same thing happened to my FoodSaver. Total junk.

Oh man, don't get me started on that brand. I had one that worked great for exactly three months then just stopped pulling a vacuum altogether. I tried cleaning the seals, checking the gaskets, even watched a YouTube video where a guy fixed his with a paperclip. Nothing worked. So now I have this expensive paperweight that takes up half my cabinet and reminds me every time I open the door that I should've just bought the cheap one from the grocery store.

Oh man, I swear it's like these things have a built-in timer or something. I had a different brand that worked perfectly until I tried to seal a bag of soup, and it just... gave up. The heating strip stopped heating, so instead of a sealed bag I just had warm soup on my counter. I even tried to fix it with a hair dryer once, like that would help. Maybe it's just me but I think they design them to break after a year so you buy another one.
