Vent: my $12 thrift store cast iron beats the $200 pan I bought new, and I'm annoyed about it
Bought a brand new 12 inch skillet for around $200 two years back because everyone online swore the new ones were just as good as the old stuff, and the seasoning flaked off within 6 months of normal use. The $12 rusty pan I scrubbed down with steel wool at a garage sale in Dayton last spring has been nonstick for a year now and takes a beating at work without a single flake. So what actually changed in the casting, or did I just get a bad batch?
