Finally caved and bought a $200 digital angle gauge for my table saw. It paid for itself on the first big kitchen job.

My old saw's miter slot was off by almost a full degree. I spent more time checking cuts than making them. That digital gauge showed me the exact error so I could shim the table. Now my crosscut sled runs true for the first time in years.

Shim the fence with strips of aluminum can if you need a quick fix. I cut mine into thin strips with scissors and stacked them until the gauge read zero. Works way better than paper shims and won't compress over time.

That feeling when a tool just works is the best. Watched a guy fight with a speed square for an hour on a cabinet face frame. The digital gauge would have had it done in two minutes. For repeat cuts on a big project, it's a game changer. No more squinting at a tiny bubble.

Exactly, no more squinting at a bubble. I set up a whole run of built-in shelves with mine. Dialed in the blade once, locked it, and every single cut was dead on. That consistency is worth every penny.
