Hit 1000 cabinet doors built this week and had to stop and think about it

I keep a little tally on the wall of my shop just for kicks. Wednesday I finished a set for a kitchen remodel and the count hit exactly 1000 doors going back about 6 years. That's a lot of shaker style, some slab, some with raised panels. It got me wondering how many hours of sanding that really is. Has anyone else ever added up their total builds and gotten a number that surprised them?

Kept my own tally for years too. Really puts the work in perspective.

Counting pieces has never clicked for me. I kept a tally for about three weeks once and all it did was make me feel like I was racing against some invisible clock. The numbers just became noise. Claire_grant34 mentioned appreciating the grind at 1000, but that mark means nothing if the work itself felt rushed or hollow. For me, it's more about whether that piece moved someone or challenged me in a new way. I'd rather lose track of the count and get lost in the craft instead.

That 1000 mark really makes you stop and appreciate all the work that goes into each piece. Nothing wrong with taking a moment to be proud of that grind.
