Hot take: that counter guy in Tulsa told me to stop building drawers square, and he was wrong
Three years back I was picking up a load of birch ply in Tulsa and the counter guy, Ray, had been building cabinets for 30 years. He told me he builds every drawer box a hair out of square on purpose, says it keeps them from racking in humid weather. I tried it on a kitchen job in Broken Arrow and got callbacks within 2 months, drawers sticking and one face pulling loose. Went back to dead square with a diagonal check on every box and haven't had a callback since. Ray was a nice guy but I think he was just covering for a bad jig. Any of you build out of square on purpose, or was Ray pulling my leg?
