Pro tip: Always use wax paper under glue-ups

Otherwise, your project becomes part of the bench.

Maybe try plastic wrap like @grant478 uses for tricky woods.

Last summer I glued up a walnut cutting board and used wax paper. What a MESS when it fused to the wood. I had to sand for hours to fix it. @grant478 is totally right about oily woods being tricky. Parchment paper saved my next project. That feeling when your work sticks to the bench is the WORST.

Hmm, wax paper can actually STICK to oily woods pretty bad. Parchment paper is a safer bet for that stuff.
