Switched to pre-finished plywood for vanities and never going back
I used to always finish my own plywood for bathroom vanities because I thought it was cheaper. Finally added up the time cost last month and realized I was spending about 5 hours per job just sanding and spraying. Tried a sheet of the pre-finished stuff from my local supplier and the finish is way more consistent than anything I can do in my shop. Has anyone else made the switch and noticed a difference in callbacks?

Huh, five hours per job? That seems like a lot, honestly. I mean, I get that sanding and spraying takes time but are you really getting that many callbacks from paint peeling? I've been doing it the old way for years and maybe get one every couple years tops. Seems like overkill to switch the whole process over something that might not even be a big problem.

Whoa, wait... did you say five hours per job? @valc91, that's wild. I mean, I get being thorough but that's almost a full day's work for what sounds like a basic repaint.

Read somewhere that prep work actually prevents more issues than just paint peeling. Like moisture getting trapped behind the paint. That's the real killer.
