The one trick I learned for shimming out-of-square cabinets

I kept seeing guys at the shop shimming doors and face frames with random scraps, then fighting gaps all day. Last month I started using a set of tapered plastic shims I got from a hardware supply in Portland for about 8 bucks. They let me dial in side-to-side and front-to-back in one shot without clicking or breaking like wood. Has anyone else tried these or do you still cut your own?
