Hot take: my cable company's outage texts are actually useful, and I don't get the hate
Everyone here trashes the automatic outage texts, but when my internet died on a Tuesday night in March, the text told me the fix would land by 11:40pm and it was back at 11:22pm. That is one data point, sure, but it beat the old days of calling support and getting told to unplug the box for the fourth time. I get why people hate the spam, but would you rather sit in the dark guessing? What has your provider actually gotten right lately?
Not to nitpick but one text that landed 18 minutes early is kinda the exception, not the rule. Mine usually says "resolved" while the modem is still blinking red. Your provider might just have their act together more than most, so I wouldn't expect that everywhere.
