My upload speed went from 3 Mbps to 480 Mbps in one day and the fix was not what the techs kept telling me
For 8 months my upload speed sat at 3 Mbps. Downloads were fine, usually around 300, but anything I sent out crawled. I work from home in Fort Wayne and upload video files all day, so this was killing me. I called support 6 times. Every single tech said the same thing: reboot the router, run a speed test, we see no problem on our end. One guy tried to sell me a $15 a month "boost pack." Nothing changed. Then two Saturdays ago a lineman came out for a different ticket about a noisy line. He poked around the box on the side of my house for about 20 minutes and said the coax connector was loose and full of water. He swapped it, put dielectric grease on it, and my upload jumped to 480 Mbps before he even left the yard. Same plan, same price, nothing else touched. I have been paying for 8 months of a service I was barely getting. Has anyone else had a tech find the real issue after the phone people kept blaming your equipment?
So the connector was loose AND full of water and that's what it took to finally get someone to actually look at the hardware. My question is did you ever get them to credit you for those 8 months of garbage upload speeds? I'd be raising hell about paying full price for half a service that long. Also did the lineman say anything about how long that water had been sitting in there, because if it was corroded that bad it didn't happen overnight. Curious too if you checked your bill to see if that boost pack charge ever snuck onto your account after all those calls.
