Spectrum doubled my upload speed overnight and I found out why on Reddit
Honestly I was about to switch to fiber after 3 years of getting 12 Mbps upload on Spectrum's gig plan in Raleigh. Last Tuesday I ran a speed test out of habit and got 41 Mbps up. Same router, same wiring, nothing changed on my end. I called support and the guy swore nothing was different, said maybe my wifi was just "working better today." Total nonsense. Two days later someone in my neighborhood Facebook group posted a screenshot of their speeds too and a tech in the comments admitted they flipped a switch on the node for the whole area. Turns out Spectrum quietly bumped upload on the gig tier in select markets back in January and never told anyone. I got so mad because I spent $180 on a new modem thinking mine was dying. Has anyone else seen their upload jump out of nowhere, and did your bill go up because of it?
