Vent: paid $95 to a 'cancel my cable for me' service and they did nothing
Saw an ad for a company that promises to call your provider and cancel everything for you, so I paid the $95 fee because I hate those retention calls. Two weeks later I got a full bill again, and the rep said nobody ever called on my account. The service kept my money and told me I should have read the fine print about 'best effort.' I ended up spending 40 minutes on the phone myself and got it done in one call. Has anyone found a legit way to cut through retention offers without paying someone else to do it?
