A quick thank you to a homeowner in Denver who saved my morning
I was running behind on a Wednesday install in the Denver suburbs, and this older lady offered me a cup of coffee while I was running coax through her crawlspace. She said 'take your time, I used to do this job 20 years ago.' She pointed out a junction box I would have missed behind some drywall, saved me a good 40 minutes of backtracking. Anyone else have a customer who actually knew the trade and made your day easier?

Honestly, I gotta push back on this a little. I had a guy in Lakewood last month who said he used to do cable work back in the 90s, and he spent 45 minutes telling me how I was running my lines wrong. He kept pointing at stuff that was outdated even when I showed him the current code book. Ended up adding an hour to my day just explaining why his old tricks wouldn't pass inspection now. Ngl, I bet that lady in Denver was a genuine help, but in my experience, most "I used to do this" customers just slow you down with bad advice. I'm glad it worked out for you though, a free cup of coffee is worth a lot when you're freezing in a crawlspace.

Nodding along saves time and gets you coffee.

Had a guy try to tell me the proper way to strip cable once, turned out he was confusing it with speaker wire.
