Disagree with the 'always replace the whole drop' rule, splicing at the box saved me 40 minutes on a Tampa job

Everyone on my crew says you gotta run a brand new line from the tap to the house every time, but last Thursday at a place off Dale Mabry I just re-spliced at the ped and had the guy back online in 25 minutes instead of over an hour. The signal readings came back clean at 41 dBmV and I checked them again two days later, still solid. I get why the old heads don't trust a splice, but if the drop tests good past the break, why waste 200 feet of coax? Anyone else splicing at the box or am I gonna get roasted for this?
