Down in Austin, finally saw a 6 month old run actually hold signal clean
I had a job in south Austin back in March that was a nightmare, loose connectors and bad barrel splices all through this old apartment building. Went back yesterday for a service call on a different unit and checked the same line out of curiosity. Not a single dropped packet in the logs and the SNR was solid. Has anyone else circled back on an old trouble spot and been shocked it actually held up?

yeah that's rough man, I feel you on that one. it's like every time you think you've got a problem fixed it finds a new way to mess with you. still, gotta take the small wins when they come even if you're just waiting for the other shoe to drop.

Right, "look perfect for a day or two" is the real kicker. I had a leaky pipe in my basement that would only let go when it rained real hard. Fixed it twice, dry for a week each time, then third time it finally held. Turns out the first two fixes were just treating a symptom, the actual crack was a foot further down. That's the part that gets you - thinking you solved it when you just patched the visible bit.

...and honestly I'm not sure it matters all that much. One clean signal check doesn't mean the whole system is sorted, you know? I've had plenty of joints look perfect for a day or two only to crap out again when the weather changes.
