Just switched from a fishtape to a glow rod for a 60ft conduit pull and never going back
Had to fish through three 90 degree bends in an old building downtown, fishtape kept binding up and I wasted 45 minutes. Glow rod got it done in 10 minutes with zero frustration - anyone else make this swap?

Used to think glow rods were just a gimmick honestly. Had a similar job with tight bends in an old warehouse and the fishtape kept snagging on everything. Switched to a glow rod and it slid right through like butter. That first pull sold me completely, now I grab it for anything with more than one bend. They just flex better and don't fight you the way metal does.

They work great until you break one off inside a pipe, @nguyen.blake.

You said that first pull sold you completely. That really surprises me because I figured most guys would give it one shot and then toss it in the truck and forget about it. I have been using fishtape for over twenty years and I always thought glow rods were more for low voltage stuff or really short runs. But after fighting with a stuck tape in a 60 foot conduit with three bends last month, I am starting to change my mind. It wore me out and I almost had to open up the wall. Maybe I am missing something here.
