My old foreman said to always use a 3/8 inch drill bit for wall plates, but I've been using a 1/2 inch for a year now and it's way better. Who's right?

Mid-order phone death is the worst. I once dropped mine in a parking lot right after hitting confirm on a pizza, had to just HOPE it went through. Spent twenty minutes stressing by the door.
