Overheard a customer in Denver say they'd rather have fiber than a free TV

I was finishing up a coax run in an apartment building last week and the guy next door was on the phone. He said, 'I don't care about the promo channels, just tell me if you can get fiber to this unit.' It made me realize how much the ask has changed... people used to just want more channels. Now it's all about the raw speed and reliability of the line itself. Has anyone else noticed customers getting way more specific about the infrastructure?

Wow, that's a huge shift. Do you think it's mostly because of work from home now, or are people just more aware of how bad a spotty connection is for everything? Like, they've had enough of buffering.

The "assume you have a solid connection" part really got me, because I used to just blame my own wifi for everything. But seeing @marydavis point out it started before WFH made me realize, yeah, apps have been getting more demanding for years now. I just never noticed until my own stuff started breaking.

Yeah the "had enough of buffering" part is so real. But I wonder if it's also because so many apps and services now assume you have a solid connection all the time. Like, your smart home stuff just breaks if the wifi drops for a second.

Actually, I think the shift started before work from home got big. It was more about everything moving online at once.
