Overheard a homeowner say 'cable duct is just a pipe' - made me laugh out loud

Ngl I was pulling RG6 through a new build in Phoenix last week and the owner was watching me work. He goes 'isn't that just a fancy pipe for wires?' and I wanted to hand him a fish tape and say good luck. Tbh if he tried pulling 200 feet of quad shield through a standard conduit he'd learn real quick why we use Smurf tube or innerduct. Has anyone else dealt with customers who think they can do our job after watching one YouTube video?

Good point but Smurf tube is just blue pipe with a different name...

@foster.jordan might as well call it "the blue man group special" at this point lol. Same stuff different day, just marketing folks trying to make things sound fancy. Honestly though I'd take blue pipe over orange any day, way easier to spot in the dark.

The real issue nobody talks about is how different cable duct materials handle heat buildup in Phoenix attics. Smurf tube might look like blue pipe but its fire rating and UV resistance are totally different than standard electrical conduit.
